What We Do

Our youth provide energy into classroom and are typically loved by learners and appreciated by teachers. Having done mathematics to matric level, they provide valuable service in each classroom and are valued by their communities.

During their time at JumpStart youth are given multiple avenues to develop the skills and behaviours needed in the job market. One aspect of this is our partnership with YES4Youth. This provides them with access to xero-rated content specifically designed for this purpose.

All youth receive tablets. They use these for their work and personal development. To complement this they receive computer skills training, data training and guidance on the use of the internet and social media.

Through partnership with ForGood and other communities, JumpStart runs regular online career masterclasses. Corporates volunteers run workshops to share their career experience and knowledge with our interns.

To support the career aspirations of our youth, JumpStart supports them to access to financial support including NSFAS, and also has a StudyAssist fund providing financial support to a number of our interns to further their studies.

As youth reach the last months of their internships, JumpStart actively places youth in jobs. All youth are also added to the Alumni network where job and study opportunities are shared.
