We recruit unemployed youth from our school communities, train them up as maths tutors and support them to transition into meaningful careers. After a positive experience in schools, many take up careers in education.

"As a JumpStart intern, I've loved learning about the world of technology. It is good to be valued at Malakabeng as we are considered as part of the staff and I'm trusted to go on field trips with the learners. My happiest times at work are seeing children learn while having fun. This is what gets me up every morning. That... and completing my degree, thanks to StudyAssist. Now I'm registered for an Honours in Education, focusing on psychology. My life has taken on a whole new dimension. JumpStart is who I am!"

"After graduating from varsity, the internship was a great opportunity, a way of giving back to the Katlehong community, where I grew up. As a Sotho speaker I learned how to speak Xhosa at Tamaho and made discoveries about a new culture. Later, I became a team leader, managing intermediate phase learners doing maths on tablets at six digital schools. It was an exciting experience that helped me to grow leadership skills too."
